Course Roadmap

Below are the session level details for this course. It consists of seven sessions on Wednesdays at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT from March 26, 2025 to May 7, 2025.

Session 1

Wednesday, March 26th at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

Introduction to the course
Practice active listening
Explore beliefs that may not serve your goals for your life and relationships
Discuss activated emotions, the purpose of emotions and your relationship to emotions

Session 2

Wednesday, April 2nd at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

Acquaint you with conscious and unconscious factors that influence how you show up when listening to others (nervous system, dysregulation, window of tolerance, trauma, relationship to vulnerability, which is influenced by history of trauma and systemic beliefs & norms)
Better understand the relationship between empathy, triggers and active listening/responding in an emotionally attuned way

Session 3

Wednesday, April 9th at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

Define empathy and discuss difficult-to-feel emotions
Identify, acknowledge and articulate triggers that lead to unhelpful actions
Become aware of nervous system activation
Practice skills to ground your body, self-regulate and manage your fix-it reflex

Session 4

Wednesday, April 16th at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

Explore what it means and looks like to support others in change and the motivation for change
Practice expressing empathy
Learn how to reflectively listen

Session 5

Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

Practice asking open-ended questions
Learn how to express affirmation
Explore getting permission to offer perspective and apply communicating honestly but thoughtfully

Session 6

Wednesday, April 30th at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

Discuss potential outcomes after harm is caused
Identify protocol for healing and reconciliation, in micro and macro moments
Learn what repair is and how to repair

Session 7

Wednesday, May 7th at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT

This is a group course, and while there are certainly mechanisms for individual sharing and individualized feedback, this course was intentionally designed for you to learn, develop and apply each skill in a group setting.

What is the cost for this course and what is included? What is the refund policy?

The investment for this course is $1500, which includes:

Seven (7) 90 minute group sessions facilitated by Dr. Bukky, with the ability to ask questions, contribute to the discussion and participate in real-time learning activities.
Required 30 minutes of pre-work prior to each session to ensure you optimize what you get out of the course.
Access to curated resources and articles as applicable.

Once paid, no refunds can be issued for course registration, but we may allow for transfer if the updated party meets all the criteria to participate in the course. Please email info@thepeculiarcmo.com with any specific questions.

What is the duration of this course?

This course is seven weeks long, meeting once weekly for 90 minutes.

Is there an asynchronous version of this course?

While this course is entirely virtual, the sessions are held live on Wednesdays at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT. Because of the nature of the subject matter, respect for attendees’ privacy and the need to participate in group activities live, recordings will not be available asynchronously.
