Couples Therapy for Queens Couples

Queens is the borough where more families than anywhere else are working across two or three cultures at once. A lot of what couples bring here is exactly that: two people who love each other and grew up with different rules for what a family owes itself.

Getting to us from Queens

The E train runs from Jamaica, Forest Hills and Jackson Heights to 34th St–Penn Station, a short walk from our office at 352 7th Ave. The LIRR from Jamaica or Forest Hills lands in Penn Station itself. From Astoria and Long Island City, the N/W to 34th St–Herald Square is a few minutes' walk away.

Most Queens couples, though, start by video. It removes the commute, the babysitter and the excuse — and it keeps sessions going through the weeks when one of you is working late.

What we work on

  • Couples from different cultures, languages or faiths, and the families on both sides
  • Partners caring for children and aging parents at the same time
  • Communication that has turned into criticism, defensiveness or silence
  • Affair recovery and rebuilding trust
  • Premarital counseling for engaged couples
  • LGBTQ+ couples and couples of color who do not want to spend the first sessions explaining themselves

Questions

What people ask

Is there an office in Queens?

No — our New York office is in Midtown Manhattan by Penn Station, which is a direct ride on the E or the LIRR. Video sessions are available anywhere in Queens.

Do you work with intercultural and interfaith couples?

Yes, often. Differences in culture or faith are rarely the problem on their own; how a couple talks about them usually is, and that is workable.

Do you also see families from Queens?

Yes. Dr. Dana Rhule works with children, teens and parents, including by video. See Family Therapy.
